Mangaluru: There have been many cases of theft of gold ornaments of huge value from wedding venues in the city during the past months. In most cases, the culprits have remained untraced.
For inspector Dinakar Shetty, who was on a patrol around Nehuru maidan, it was a chance catch. He spotted a young man sporting a flashy green T-shirt holding a packet with gold ornaments in it. He was taken into custody for questioning.
Many ornaments including a gold necklace with a pendant, a ruby-studded bangle and earring were found him. During interrogation he revealed that he had stolen them from a wedding venue in Bendur church hall during the second week of February earlier this year.
A case has been booked against him and the gold seized. He has been identified as Prajwal Gowda, resident of Gandhinagar in Sullia, currently living in Nandanapura near Akash Bhavan in Kavoor.
Records say that a total of 66.540 gms gold, valued at Rs 1.51 lakh, had been stolen from the Bendur church hall when the ceremony was in progress.
Its better one person has to take care of the gold during wedding. Please donot leave the things unattended.
Our Original Rampu would say “peaceful guy from peaceful community” etc. Smiles..
The employers like Caterers, Decorators and Electricians etc, should take utmost care while utilizing the services of such rogues.
Inspector, Dinakar Shetty, needs to be congratulated by his superiors for being alert and eagle-eyed.
Isn’t ironic that our joker Praveena Pinto would ignore all those incidents from Mangaluru vimaana nildaana and focus on an isolated incident here? After all, he is not known for logic!!
