Mangaluru: Shreyas H S, a city-based journalist had complained to the Kadri police against Pratap Simha, Lok Sabha member from the Mysuru-Kodagu constituency, regarding a threat to his life from the latter.

The MP had recently posted in his Facebook account a comment on the conviction of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. He had implied that the charity work of the actor had overweighed the punishment factor.

Shreyas contacted the MP for his comments and published a report in a website about it. After noticing it, the MP is said to have called up the journalist and used abusive language against him. He is alleged to have also told him that he could send his supporters and get his hands and legs broken.

In response to the complaint, the Kadri police submitted a report to the court of the junior magistrate first class II and obtained its permission to proceed against Pratap Simha.

Now they have filed a first information report (FIR) against the MP, invoking Indian Penal Code section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication)
