Mangaluru: Two young boys drowned in a quarry pond and died at Ira, Bantwal here on August 9.
The deceased have been identified as Prakash(18) and Dikshith (19), residents of Bolkaru.
According to the police, on August 9, a group of 5 youth went for swimming at the pond at Ira, Bantwal. While swimming, Prakash drowned and the other four tried to help him. But in their efforts to help Prakash, Dikshith also got drowned in the pond. Two others were admitted to the hospital.
The Konaje police reached the spot and with the help of locals lifted the bodies from the pond. During the recovery of the bodies, the Bantwal police also reached the spot.
A case has been registered in the Bantwal police station.
