Mangaluru: A police constable was injured while he was chasing the culprits who were involved in illegal activities near the railway station at Someshwar here, on August 27.
According to the police, the Ullal police raided a house in Someshwar after receiving information. When the culprits saw the police approaching the house, they tried to flee from the spot. The police were able to nab only two persons initially. While one of them escaped in the beginning itself, two others jumped the compound wall to escape but police constable Mahash Gatti chased them and was able to nab one of them.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Siraj (30) from Beeri, Rakesh (35) from Uchila and a married woman. The other two accused were able to escape and have been identified as Jafar and Abbas.
Constable Mahesh Gatti was injured while chasing Rakesh and has been admitted to a hospital in Deralakatte.
A case has been registered in the Ullal police station and search is on for Jafer and Abbas.
