Mangaluru: Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda Inspects Padil-Bajal Railway Underbridge

Mangaluru: The Union law minister Sadananda Gowda visited the spot of Padil-Bajal railway under bridge here on May 9.

After visiting the spot DVS speaking to the mediapersons said that the work of Padil Bajal Railway under bridge was supposed to be completed by March 31, 2015 but due to some technical issues the work has been delayed. He also said that the work should be completed before the monsoon starts, if the work will not be completed by June 30, people will face more problems in the rainy season. He warned the officials to complete the work before June 30 and said that it is the duty of the Mangaluru City corporation to follow-up in this regard.

He further said that the water logging problem has been temporarily solved by the railway department. We will find a permanent solution once the Rainy season gets over. In future if the problem arises the railway officials along with the MP will solve it. The government is ready to solve any problems which the general public face. The main problem of drains and the road approach at the under bridge will be solved.

DVS also said that the Mangaluru Central railway station is in the list of five cities which will be upgraded to international standards and the plan is under review. Rs 7 crore has been sanctioned for the B C Road – Mani stretch, the Shiradi Ghat stretch will also be completed soon.

He said that when he was the Railway minister he had sanctioned 16 trains to Karnataka. When asked about the Mekedatu project. DVS said that the Mekedatu project is a good move by the state government but the Tamil Nadu government is creating problems. When there was water crisis in Tamil Nadu the state government released 194 TMC water to Tamil Nadu. Mekedatu Project will provide drinking water to Bengaluru and it will not only benefit Bengaluru but also the people of Tamil Nadu. The state government should be firm in their decision, he said.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MCC commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Former Deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat, officials from the Railways were also present.
