Addressing the gathering Prof M B Puranik said that this is a very sad moment in our life. Seven of our soldiers who were safeguarding our country have sacrificed their lives in the Pathankot terror attack. When Police Superintendent Salwinder Singh was kidnapped and his vehicle was hijacked, the soldiers got into action. Young Lt Colonel E K Niranjan, a bomb expert who was with the National Security Guard was killed when he was defusing a grenade at Pathankot IAF base. His innocent 18-month-old baby is also shedding tears along with Niranjan’s wife and other family members.

He further said that our prime minister Narendra Modi is trying to strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and India and to provide safety to the people of the country, Modi also visited Lahore, in this regard. A group of six terrorists entered Pathankot Air Force base wearing the dress of Indian soldiers and attacked our soldiers. In the attack 5 of the terrorists were killed and 7 of our soldiers sacrificed their lives. We felicitate people when they rescue someone or do some social service, but how much do we remember our brave soldiers who are working day and night to safeguard us from our enemies? he questioned.

VHP district president Jagadish Shenava speaking on the occasion said that the operation is not yet completed, the attack was took place 25 KM from the border with Pakistan. We thought that it was a security lapse, if there was a security lapse the situation would have been still worse. There are more than 3000 families staying in the area. The 7 soldiers have sacrificed their lives to safeguard the people of the country. We salute all the seven brave hearts who sacrificed their lives in the Pathankot terror attack, he said.
