Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishat held a press meet at its office here, on November 12.

Addressing the mediapersons, district president of VHP Jagadish Shenava said, “From the past three years in the state, there have been continuous attacks on Hindus and Hindu youth have been killed. The anti-Hindu policy of the Congress government is the cause for all such acts. From withdrawing the anti-cow slaughter act to celebrating Tipu Jayanti, the Congress government led by CM Siddaramaiah is organizing programmes to please the minority for vote bank.”

He further said, “It is an open truth that in Moodbidri, Prashant Poojary was murdered in front of his father. In Madikeri, VHP leader Kuttappa was killed in stone pelting. Illegal cow slaughter, cow trafficking, love jihad, and missing Hindu girls. The VHP and BD strongly condemn the anti-Hindu policy of the Congress government. We will protest by blocking the roads on November 13 from 11 am to 12 noon. In Mangaluru, we will block the Pumpwell Circle, Hampankatta Circle, Mulki Junction, Suratkal Junction, Thokkottu, Moodbidri, Bajpe, Gurupur and Kaikamba.”

When asked why the bundh was withdrawn on November 13 as was scheduled, Shenava replied, “We did not say that there is a bundh on November 13. We have instead taken a collective decision to protest by blocking the roads on that day.”

VHP secretary Jitendra Kottari said that the Congress government tried to create communal violence in the state by celebrating Tipu Jayanti. “According to history, Tipu did not fight against the British for independence. He fought for his own selfish needs; he fought to save his kingdom. Tipu was born on November 20, but the Congress government has celebrated the birthday of Tipu on November 10, which is an attempt to spoil Diwali celebrations. Even the Christian community was against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti, but to please the Muslim community, the state government has played with the sentiments of the Hindu and Christian communities.”

Praveen Kuthar, Gopal Kuthar and others were also present.
