Addressing the protesters, corporator Premanand said that the Congress party came to power with various promises but they did not fulfill any promises. “After the Congress came to power, due to groupism in the party, for one year there was no mayor for the city. When the 1st mayor was elected, the commissioner was transferred. Again due to groupism and internal fighting, the development of the district came to a standstill. The work of the Town Hall was also delayed due to internal fight between the elected members. Roads are in pathetic condition, there are no proper footpaths due to which pedestrians are always at risk.”

Premanand further said that the MLA has given assurance to make the footpaths but so far nothing has been done thus encouraging the street vendors to take over the footpaths. He also said that before the elections, senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary said that he will not allow the self assessment tax to be increased, but after the Congress came to power, they increased the SAT neglecting the advise of senior Congress leader. “Poojary even said that he will not allow Hephsiba Rani to be transferred and that if anyone tried to transfer her, he would go to the higher ups in the party and retain her at MCC because she is a transparent officer. But the Congress did not listen to Poojary. Transparent officers in the Revenue, Town planning and Health departments were transferred.”

Premanand demanded that the Mayor, the MLAs and the ministers should fulfill the promises made to the people of DK before elections. He also demand for immediate construction of the footpaths. “If the demands will not be fulfilled, the BJP along with all the ward members will intensify their protest in coming days,” he warned.

Corporator Tilakraj said, “We have a deaf chief minister in the state who is unable to listen to the problems of the people and in Mangaluru, we have a mute mayor. There are a number of problems in the Mangaluru City Corporation limits. When the problems are brought to the notice of the Mayor, she is unable to solve them. She does not have the capacity to solve the problems in the city. Senior Congress leaders were blaming the BJP for increasing the self assessment tax and Poojary assured that if the Congress government comes to power, they will not increase the SAT. How did the Congress forget its promise and increase the SAT? Even if a person pays only Rs 200 tax, he has to pay Rs 400 for the waste collection. The Congress government has put the people in trouble.” He demanded that all the promises which the Congress has made before coming to power should be fulfilled.

Corporator Roopa D Bangera, Ravishanker Mijar, Sudhir Shetty, Vedavyas Kumar, Dr Bharat Shetty, Satish Prabhu, Divakar and Bhaskar Chandra were also present.

Among the voices of criticism is that of noted historian Ramchandra Guha, who tweeted today: “A poor farmer in Karnataka loses valuable cropland to a stage built for Rahul Gandhi to come and go.” Many have pointed at the irony that Mr Gandhi,… Read more »

Mango Man alleges, “A stage is being put up in farm lands near a village in Ranibennur in central Karnataka. Maize grown on four acres of land reportedly belonging to one farmer has been destroyed”.

BUT CONGRESS PARTY PAID TEN TIMES THE PRICE OF THE PRODUCE BEING GROWN IN THAT LAND AND THE GROWER HAS HAPPILY ASKED TO ARRANGE FOR THE STAGE FOR RAHUL’S MEETING. WHY RSS AND BJP SHED CROCODILE TEARS?
