Mangaluru: Woman – The spark to your fire – The 135 College day of St Aloysius P U College Mangaluru was held on 10 January 2015 at the College Pretorium celebrating womanhood with all its glory.
Roy Castelino, prominent builder, social worker and President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, gracing as the chief guest expressed that Women must not be discriminated against, they should be treated with respect and that youth, the future of the world should be motivated to preserve the rich heritage of our country and to honour women. Fr Dr Stanislaus J D’Souza SJ, Provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province presided over the occasion and appreciated the work of the staff and students and urged the students to pick up values, learn a new language, music and sharpen their brains.
The other dignitaries on the dais were Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Rector, St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Joseph D’Souza SJ, Finance officer, Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ , Principal, Rekha K Alva, Vice Principal, Claudette Fernandes, PTA Vice President, Joseph Prem Saldanha, Programme Convener and the student council members.
The occasion was celebrated with the enthusiastic participation of over 4000 students, parents, staff and well wishers. The programme ended with the cultural extravaganza.
