Mangaluru: To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of YCS/YSM, a programme “Golden Blash” was organized at the Vamanjoor Church Grounds here on January 10.
Various competitions such as cooking without fire, collage competition, flower arrangement, memory test, Mono acting, still image and singing were held followed by a cultural programme.
The programme began with an invocation followed by a welcome dance. Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza presided over the programme. IYCSChaplain Fr Charles Menezes was the chief guest.
In his presidential address Bishop Dr Aloysius stressed on the benefits of joiningYCS/YSM. He further said that the youth should take up jobs in government sectors. Parents should encourage their children to answer competitive exams and join the government sectors.
Fr Charles Menezes said that YCS/YSM is strengthening the youth to face the challenges in the society and also helps in developing leadership qualities. He urged more and more youth to join YCS/YSM.
Parish Priest, Vamanjoor Church Fr Cyprian Pinto thanked the organizing committee for giving an opportunity to hold the historical programme in Vamanjoor Parish. Fr Charles Menezes and National Director, ICYM Fr Deepak Thomas were felicitated by the Bishop on the occasion. Members of YCS/YSM who have worked hard to strengthen the movement at the National and international level were felicitated by the Bishop.
Bishop Dr Aloysius released the golden jubilee souvenir and Action Song book on the occasion. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Fr Ronald D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks. Smitha, Wilma, Roshan Lobo and Sharon Pinto compered the programme.
