Mangaluru: A young woman was found brutally murdered at Baikampady here, on January 13.
The deceased has been identified as Kalpana (26), a native of UP. According to police, Kalpana was found dead in a pool of blood by her husband Rajesh (36) when he returned from work in the morning after finishing his night shift. The couple were daily wagers. They had married recently and were living in a rented house in Ital compound, Meenakallya, Baikampady.
She is said to have been assaulted with a sickle and a large stone. The motive behind the murder is not known yet.
A canine squad and fingerprint experts visited the spot to gather forensic evidence. Police commissioner Murugan, ACP Ravi Kumar and other police officers also visited the spot.
A case has been registered in the Panambur Police Station and investigation is on.
