Manguluru: The Besant Evening College along with its Alumni Association celebrated Auto Drivers Day at the college auditorium here on March 29.
Around 45 Auto drivers were honoured, among them three were chosen to be Felicitated for their exemplary service. Montu Lobo, 80 years old auto driver, was Felicitated with the title “Kudla Auto Raja”, K Mohammed was Felicitated as “Kudla Auto Atmabhandava” and Sundar Shetty was Felicitated as “Kudla Auto Mithra”. They were also given cash prizes.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel appreciated the organisers for celebrating auto drivers day. Udaya Nayak ACP Traffic, Sunil Kumar Bajal of CPI(M), Manel Annappa Nayak Vice President of Besant Institutions were the guests of honour.
Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy President of Besant Institutions presided over the function. Dr Carmelita Goveas Principal of Besant Evening College spoke about the objectives of organizing Auto Drivers Day. Ishwar Poojary Co-ordinator of the programme welcomed the gathering. Professor Dr Satish Kumar Shetty, Mahaveera and Gopal Raddi Ritti read out the citations. Vishwanath Achar, Department of Economics delivered the vote of thanks.
