Manhandling Public Person, Black Day in History of Udupi CMC – Mattar Rathnakar Hegde

Udupi: “Manhandling a public person during the Udupi City Municipal Council general meeting is a Black day in the history of Udupi CMC@,  said Mattar Rathnakar Hegde district president of BJP. He was speaking at a press meet held at the District BJP office on Thursday, June 29.

Addressing the mediapersons Rathnakar said, “The Udupi City Municipal Council has its own reputation not only in the district but also across the country and state. Well-known politicians like Late Dr  V S Acharya and K K Pai had also served in this council as presidents. For the first time in the history the council is ruled by the Congress party and today the ruling party showed its culture by manhandling a public person during the council meeting. This is a Black mark in the council’s history”.

Rathnakar further said, “The ruling party councilor Geetha Shet of Kadiyali ward had called Rony D’Mello to give clarifications on the problems in her ward. Rony D’Mello had entered the council meeting without knowing the rules. Any person can view the proceedings of the CMC Meeting and for the same, a provision is made in the Municipal Act. In the Council meeting, the public are not allowed to speak, the president and commissioner should convince them. But when Rony entered the meeting hall, councilor Ramesh Kanchan, R K Ramesh and others assaulted him. The District BJP strongly condemns the incident. Rony D’Mello is not an ordinary person, he is representing the Kadiyali Ward as a Church Gurkar. The President and Commissioner had failed to convince him, the Congress councilors acted like ruffians in the council meeting. The district minister in-charge who is representing the Udupi constituency is answerable for this incident”.

Rathnakar also said that the Congress members not only manhandled Rony D’Mello but also assaulted their own councilor Geetha Shet. We have already approached the district police superintendent and asked him to take action against the councilors who assaulted Rony D’Mello and Geetha Shet.

The district BJP demanding the chief minister of Karnataka to suspend the Congress councilors who had assaulted a public person and also suspend CMC president Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje and Commissioner Manjunathaiah for failing to control the situation.

The district BJP will stage a protest on Friday, June 30 evening against the Udupi City Municipal Council, he added.

Raghupathi Bhat former MLA, Yashpal Suvarna Councilor CMC, K Suresh Nayak, Naveen Shetty Kuthyar and Katapadi Shanker Poojary were also present.

I condemn horrible Goondagiri inside the Municipality by Congress councillors. A common man enters with ward representative to a municipality is a crime?
Corrupted goondas resign the Municipality, you need so called Christian communities vote. I call all the Christian community to support BJP for the coming Municipality election. Kick out congress from Udupi.
