Manila Panchayat Employee Ends Life – Motive Unknown
Bantwal: Akshata (23), daughter of Ananda of Muchirapadavu in the taluk and an employee of Manila panchayat, jumped into a pond and ended her life in her home village on Tuesday morning.
She had served in Peruvai panchayat for some years and about 18 months ago was transferred to Manila panchayat which had been newly carved out.
She was otherwise dedicated to her work and appeared calm and quiet until Tuesday morning. After reporting to work, she suddenly complained of a headache and told her colleagues that she would go home.
Instead, she jumped into a pond in Muchirabettu and ended her life. Residents around informed the Bantwal fire service. By the time they retrieved her, she was already dead.
The exact motive for her suicide is not known. Reports are making rounds that she was upset with the political tussle within the panchayat.
The police from Vittal arrived and registered a case. Her body was taken to a hospital in Deralakatte for an autopsy.
