Manipal: ABVP Demands CBI Inquiry into Death of IAS officer D K Ravi

Manipal: The Akila Bharatiya Vidhyarti Parishat on March 17 demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation into the suspicious death of IAS officer D K Ravi.

Members of ABVP Udupi unit handed over a memorandum to the Union and the State Governments though the Deputy Commissioner. Kumar KAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district received the memorandum.

In the memorandum, it is stated that as Deputy Commissioner of Kolar, D K Ravi had taken on the sand mafia and land encroachment. His action had invited the wrath of those allegedly involved in illegal acts. Last October, the government transferred him as additional commissioner commercial taxes department. D K Ravi, who took strong action on the sand mafia in the district, had allegedly received threat calls before his death. In his tenure in the commercial taxes department, Ravi had ensured collection of taxes to the tune of over Rs 100 crore and had forced several top builders and jewellers in Bangalore to pay up the dues.

“The government must find out who is involved in the death of an honest and upright officer like Ravi. We need a free and fair probe to find out who or what lobby is responsible. IAS officer D K Ravi had earned many enemies in the real estate and other lobbies with his drive to bring tax defaulters to book.”

District co-ordinator Subramani, city unit secretary Shashank Shivatthaya, Nithin, Imath, Bharath, Sachin, Sudhir, Mithun, Manoj, Gourav and others were present.
