Manipal College of Dental Sciences celebrate College Day and Awards Ceremony

Mangaluru: Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore celebrated its College day and awards ceremony at the Dr TMA Pai International Convention Center. MCODS, Mangaluru is a constituent Unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, which is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year. This event recognized and celebrated the achievements of the students and faculty and also reflected the remarkable progress made in the year gone by.

The chief guest of the event was Professor Chris Louca, Director and Head of Dental Academy, University of Portsmouth, UK. In his address, Professor Louca noted and appreciated the high standards of the university and the dental college and urged the students to make the best of the opportunities provided by the institute. Congratulating the graduating batch of students, he encouraged them to continue seeking knowledge and work for the progress in the field of dentistry.

Dr Dilip Naik, Dean, MCODS, Mangalore presented the college report for the year 2017. Dr Poornima Baliga, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences) released the college magazine titled “Concrescence” and felicitated the graduands. Dr V. Surendra Shetty, Pro-Vice-Chancellor
(Mangalore Campus) congratulated the graduates and wished them well. The event was also graced by Associate Deans Dr Ashita Uppoor, who delivered the welcome address and Dr Premalatha Shetty, who delivered the vote of thanks.

Several awards were given to the students for their exemplary performance in academics, sports and literary events. The prestigious Dr TMA Pai gold medal for the Best outgoing student was awarded to Dr Nikita Rungta, who is currently doing her externship at the University of Iowa. The formal function was followed by an entertainment program by the staff and students of MCODS and a gala dinner. This event was made more memorable by the presence of parents and relatives of the graduating batch of students
