‘Man’s Best Friends’ Enthrall Crowd during ‘A Day Out With Paw Buddy’
Mangalorean.com feels proud to be associated with the event “A Day Out With Paw Buddy- a unique extravaganza which was FIRST of its kind in Mangaluru, with No Rules and Regulations- but simply a day out for the dogs to have fun and freak out amidst their Masters and the general public who came in large numbers to watch the four-legged animals give their best performances- and the result :The event was a Big Success!. Kudos to Nelson Mascarenhas of Pets Villa Breeding Centre; and Avinand Achanahally of Mangaluru Horse Riding Academy, for putting up a Great Show, where the “Man’s Best Friends” did enthrall the Crowd, who even called for more acts from Pet Dogs. And even though all these dogs were “Strangers” to each other, they all “Behaved” so well- and most of them even had close encounters with each other; mingled well with the crowd- and never showed any kind of aggressiveness. Wow!
Mangaluru: If you were in Mangaluru and never made it to the ‘A Day Out With Paw Buddy’ then you missed some great fun. Who Let The Dogs Out? Whoof..Whoof ! It was indeed a ‘Paw’ty time! – with bunch of dogs in small size, mid Size, Large Size, Mega Size-some Furry, Some Cuddly, Some Cute, and of a variety of breeds including Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Dachshunds, Alsatians, Great Danes, Alsatians, German shepherds and many other breeds participating in the event thereby showing their best talents and their features. The star attraction of the evening was the Siberian Husky breed.
This show was unique, so unique that each dog surprised the spectators with their own special personality. No rules, no tricks, no marks for walking on the Ramp, Dancing with their masters etc-instead they were all pleasing their masters and the crowd. In this show, the dogs were the masters. That’s good- we need to love our dogs, the way they are meant to be, not the way they are ‘expected’ to be.
The level of obedience, according to trainers, depends on the bond between the animal and its handler. There were some interesting moments at the show when some dogs ran away with the objects they were meant to retrieve for their handlers, as part of obedience tests. Some other dogs began to play with the object until it was forcefully taken away by their handlers. The dogs owners were equal enthusiasts. Canines of various sizes were combed and pampered to their best ahead of the contest. It was a really appreciative crowd that saw the dogs perform little antics as they walked: they ran, barked at their competitors and had their day of fun outdoors.
There was no dearth of canine prowess to observe: visitors watched cuddly, doe-eyed Golden Retrievers and Labradors or admired the athletic brawn of the working dogs, including Great Danes, Dachshunds and Dobermans. The pets were made to walk and then the owners had to take them for a run around the ring. Some pets ran around with zest, racing against the rest, while some had the crowd in splits when they suddenly stopped in between to chase other dogs. One could hear exotic pet names being chanted as the crowd around the ring cheered the canines.
The show was inaugurated by Police Inspector Shantharam of Mangaluru, where after inaugurating he rode a horse since he is a experienced horse rider, having got trained in police academy. Inaugurating the show he said, “Youngsters should start the hobby of raising pet animals, so that they will keep themselves busy by playing and spending the time with the animals. By this way we can keep the youth away from illegal activities, including drugs and other bad things. This is a unique event organized for which I compliment the organizers, and they should continue organizing such events in future also” -Added to the fun of the dogs, were a couple of horses of the Mangalore Horse Riding Academy, which also enthralled the crowd.
The white horse named “Samarat” which was the star attraction of the day had been featured in the 2016 Movie “Mohnjudhro” starring Rithik Roshan, which is owned by Avinandan. The black horse named ” Chigar” also entertained the crowd with some stunt acts, with Avinandan at the helm. This event helped people understand the significance of ethical breeding and also provided platform for canine lovers to share views. It was a proud day for the dog owners and it was equally a pleasant experience for pet lovers in the city. Dog owners were found showering all affection on their dogs, trying to coax them to listen to their words.
If a few dogs were all sluggish and tired, some were in a playful mood, posing a tough task to their beloved owners. All in all, it was not only a day out for the pet dogs and their owners, but also an unique opportunity for Mangaloreans to watch the dogs of different breeds in a single platform. The event was indeed a crowd puller, as the people of Mangaluru got an opportunity for the first time, to witness a dog performance of a different kind. Perhaps, a large number of audience from the city got a chance to view the dogs belonging to some of the rare breeds, for the first time. Children and even the elders were seen cuddling and kissing dogs, that meant no harm.
Since in Mangaluru there were no events relating to Dogs other than Dog Shows, the organizers, especially Nelson and his team had decided to host this unique event in Mangaluru, and it is the first event that happened in the City, other than Dog show related events. The event featured “Ramp Walk With Paw’; ‘Dance With Paw’; and ‘Showing Skills With Paw’;- and the dogs did really good, making their masters proud.
“This event was not a competition, it was an entertaining event for everyone. People have supported in many ways by giving ideas, suggestions, advises, sponsorship etc. The main idea in organizing this event was to bring all different kinds of dogs so that the people can get aware of the different breed of dogs, and if people are confused which dog they want to buy they can decide much easier because dogs differ from breed to breed. When different dogs come together there can be lot of aggressiveness between two dogs, so we have taken care of the security part for this event so that no dogs go uncontrollable-but luckily we didn’t had any trouble done by these dogs” said Nelson Mascarenhas. Once again kudos to Nelson and Avinandan- and for the compere of the evening Shraddha Naik- for putting up a great event.
