Many BJP leaders Ready to Join Congress – Ramanath Rai
Mangaluru: “Dakshina Kannada is a highly communal sensitive district. In the recent years there has been communal violence in the district. Some communal forces are giving a political colour to every crime and creating fear in the minds of the people. After the murder of Karthik Raj, the Sangh Parivar took advantage of it and turned it into a communally motivated murder. Senior BJP leader Yeddyurappa delivered a speech which made the MP say that he will set fire to the district. Finally, the police were successful in cracking the Karthik Raj murder case and arresting the culprits behind the murder”, said the district minister in-charge B Ramanath Rai in a press meet held at the Circuit house here on May 1.
Addressing the mediapersons Minister Rai said, “I congratulate the Police commissioner and ACP Valentine for cracking the case and arresting the accused in the Karthik Raj murder case. The motive of the murder came to light and the doubts of those who has given a communal colour for the murder were also cleared. The Harish murder case was also very sensitive. In my constituency, Jalil Karopadi was murdered. He was an active and able leader and the President of the Karopadi Gram Panchayat. He was in good terms with all the people of Karopadi. The IGP and SP have put their efforts to arrest 11 persons in the Jalil murder case. The police are investigating the case and those who are involved will be arrested.”
Ramanath Rai also said, “On May 2, the Home minister, Dr Parameshwar will be visiting Jalil’s house because Jalil was an active member of the Congress. Later the Home minister will visit the District Congress office to address the party workers,” he said.
When asked, why CCTV cameras were not installed in the Karopadi Gram Panchayat? Ramanath Rai said, “We are installing CCTV cameras in all the Gram Panchayats, surely in the coming days We will install the CCTV cameras in the Karopadi Gram Panchayat.”
When asked about Mangaluru Chalo organized by one of the Congress party leader, Ramanath Rai said, “I will not join hands with any Hindu who is the member of Bajrang Dal, Hindu Jagarana Vedike or Rama Sene. Congress is a secular party and we believe in secularism. In the Quraishi case, the case has already been handed over to the COD. If injustice has been done with Quraishi he will be given justice and those innocent persons who have been assaulted by Quraishi will also be given justice”.
Ramanath Rai also said, “BJP leader Ananth Kumar said that in Congress there are no good leaders to contest the elections, but Ananth Kumar forgot that in the 7 constituencies the Congress MLA’s have won the elections and there are 2 ministers from Congress in the district. We have very good leaders as well as good youth leaders to strengthen the Congress party. Once let the BJP announce their candidates then many from the BJP will join congress”.
Mayor Kavitha Sanil, former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde, Ibrahim Kodijal and others were also present.
