Marriage breakdown inspired Lily Allen’s new album
London, March 18 (IANS) British singer Lily Allen says her new album will talk about her split from husband Sam Cooper, substance abuse issues and will also include a political message.
The 31-year-old singer tied the knot with Cooper — the father of her two daughters Ethel (five) and Marnie (four) – in 2011. The pop star split from husband in 2016.
During a News Roast podcast, the “Smile” hitmaker said that the record will also touch upon her role as a mother, reports dailymail.co.uk.
The pop star collapsed at Notting Hill Carnival last summer after she admitted to experiencing an reaction associated with smoking cannabis.
She said: “Weirdly, this album is quite insular. Mainly it’s to do with me and my relationship with my children, the breakdown of my marriage, substance abuse etc.”
Allen also joked about her new boyfriend DJ Dan London on the broadcast.
“If we got married, I’d be Lily London,” she said.
