Marriage of the Decade: Top Leaders Attend DYCP Mithun Rai’s Wedding in City
Mangaluru: The District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai tied the knot with Sharanya Shetty, on February 24 at the Kateel Temple.
Mithun Rai is the third son of Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Mahabala Rai and Mallika M Rai. Mithun Rai is very active in politics from his college days and has been elected the president of district youth Congress for the third time. His bride Sharanya is the daughter of Thadambail Guthu Alake Late Devdas Shetty and Mudukunja Guthu Ranjini Shetty.
Top Congress leaders Dinesh Gundu Rao, D K Shivakumar, Minister U T Khader, Former minister Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary, Former ministers Ramanath Rai, Abhaychandra Jain, Vinay Kumar Sorake and Amarnath Shetty, former MLAs Moideen Bava and Shakuntala Shetty, MLC Ivan D’Souza and others attended the nuptials of Mithun Rai at the Kateel Temple.
Mithun Rai is also popular for organising and promoting the traditional tiger dance (Pilinalike) from the past five years.
A grand wedding reception will be held later in the day at the Sahyadri College grounds, Adyar.

I don’t see any opposition leaders in the photos. Not sure if they were not called ‘properly’ or they chose to ignore. If either of these was true, it is sad. Of course whom to be invited for the wedding is prerogative of the marrying couple. But we mangaloreans always used to raise above politics in any personal functions, any emergency situations or any thing related to religion or cultural things. Sad that such practices are done away with.
