‘Maurishka Palace’ Catches the Dandiya Fever as Residents Go Crazy at ‘Navaratri Mahotsav 2019’
Mangaluru : “Maurishka Palace” located on Kadri Kambla Road, near to Sujir C V Nayak Hall- Mangaluru, is only a stone’s throw away from where I live. If you throw a stone from the top most floor or helipad of this mega structure, it will land right in my house compound, which is located few meters across from the M P Twin Towers. I have witnessed this structure coming up since the foundation stone was laid on 15 January 2012, and I have seen the Engineers/contractors/ workers/and others striving hard to complete this project within the deadline; day and night, and also seen this building coming up phase by phase; I have heard the workers yelling during the construction- when Rampa (name changed) from the 20th floor shouts at Sompa (name changed) who is on the ground below to bring him Paani or Chai upstairs, I have heard that too, and that’s when my dogs start barking and create ruckus!
Maurishka Palace project was conceived with the objective to provide luxurious housing in Mangaluru to many successful and accomplished Mangaloreans. The lavishness of floor area per room the optimal ventilation and emerging for a healthy life style, the impeccable amenities and facilities are all perfectly blended in the design of this project. The elevated location of Maurishka Palace ensures a spectacular view of the surroundings all the way to the horizon. The building is self-sufficient in every way possible without straining the infrastructure of the city. Land Trades endeavor was not to erect buildings but ecosystems that celebrate the concepts, wisdom and competence of today, for a better tomorrow.
Environment-friendly concepts make a significant impact only when an entire community subscribes and adopts them. Mangaluru has embraced novel concepts which have improved the quality of life, especially those which have resulted in the common good. The intelligent citizens have been exposed to international lifestyles and are comfortable with it. If life is meant to be joy, then “Maurishka Palace” is an ode to it. For it is here that you will find your dreams answered in every way. The goodness of “Maurishka Palace” lies not in its size spanning 2.77 acres of lush land, nor in its ambition to be a mega enclave for 335 families to live in. Because, here, its not just good homes that the promoters seek to provide, it’s a whole lifestyle – a way of life in the future, built around you and your family. “Maurishka Palace” is first and foremost defined by its place value. All, while being sheltered in the peace and quiet of an elite residential locality.
Therefore, “Maurishka Palace” was the right choice made by all these residents living there for their better future life- and it was indeed a good decision made by them that they’ll you’ll enjoy for the rest of their lives. Truly, Maurishka Palace is the magnum opus project of Land Trades Builders & Developers, the leading realtors of Mangaluru- and Land Trades established in the year 1991, has grown steadily over the years and every project of the firm comes with the guarantee of total reliability and optimum customer satisfaction, all under the leadership of Shrinath Hebbar, the Managing Director.
Okay, that was a brief introduction of my “Neighbour” and now coming to the main topic of this report- Ever since “Maurishka Palace” was launched on 25 May 2015, for the FIRST time, the residents of the nearly 250 apartments out of the 330 plus units, had planned a “Navaratri Mahotsav 2019’comprising of Dandiya/Garba, other Bollywood dances, Pili Nalike (Tiger Dance) during the three-day celebration from 5-7 October, with a valedictory function held on Sunday, 7 Oct with more fun, felicitations to the sponsors, maintenance crew and other helpful people, ending with a sumptuous dinner. Yes, Maurishka Palace did catch the Dandiya and Garbha fever, with the women especially, making much use of this FIRST time opportunity, where they could show their hidden talents of Dandiya and Garbha moves. Wow- and they simply stole the show, mesmerizing the crowd who applauded their performances.
Dandiya nights are no longer exclusive for the Gujaratis, as they lure South Indians, who are embracing it with ease. With the increasing interest in Dandiya events coupled with the rising number of migrants to the Coastal City and Education Hub, the newly formed “Maurishka Palace Apartments Owners’ Association” came forward to launch its own version of the festival, and this FIRST Dandiya/Garba bash was a hit and successful, with large number of residents involving themselves in the celebration.
Speaking to Team Mangalorean, the Vice President of the Association, Rajeev Gopalakrishnan said, “Our new Association was formed just recently in August 2019, with an aim to involve more participation of the residents in activities, and also to know the residents better. After the first meeting of the Association, the board members went knocking at each door of the residents, and got their suggestions, how we can make the atmosphere around Maurishka Palace more fun and lively- and the response was great from everyone. Even though our Association was recently formed, but we never felt the need to have a dandiya night. But that did change and the FIRST Dandiya/Garba night as part of Navaratri Mahotsav 2019 took birth”
True to his words, things definitely seemed to have changed, at least going by the extent of participation that the event saw. Everyone from toddlers to grandmothers were on the dance floor as soon as the music by live Dj kicked off. Soon, the dimmed open-air venue was lit with glittering lehangas decorated with mirror work and heavy embroidery. The men were not outdone by the women when it came to dressing, in fact many of the sparkling kedias and silver jewellery far outweighed that of women. The younger participants with their elaborate costumes were the most excited lot.
A toddler may still be brushing up on his walking skills, but that didn’t stop him from making the best of the dandiya night. Dressed in a yellow dhoti and angarkha, this toddler was among the earliest participants to arrive at the event. “He is one of those who gets so excited when it comes to the dandiya that he forgets sleeping and eating, All he wants to do is to go on and on with the dance,” added his grandmother aka baby-sitter? Shaila, who is now a mother, has not gone dandiya dancing for the last 15 years, but couldn’t wait to join the event. “After all these years, today I feel like dancing because this is one place where you could perform with your child. So its very special,” she said.
Meanwhile, older guests pointed out how the landscape in Kudla had been changing over the years, with more and more people taking a shine to Dandiya. “When I first came to Mangaluru, about 20 years back, there was not a single dandiya performance in the city. But in the last few years this scenario has completely changed. Now apart from the larger get-togethers there are events happening at every other apartment complex. Even South Indians are taking an interest and participating in the dandiya nights,” said a doctor who moved to the City from Kerala.
But, a Gujrathi couple who recently moved to Mangaluru on their job transfer and staying at Maurishka Palace said, “Mangaluru still has a long way to go when it comes to appreciating dandiya programmes. In our hometown, dandiya events are of large scale taking place in huge public grounds and stadiums, but that standard is yet to invade Mangaluru. But really happy to see the participation of these beautiful South Indian ladies embracing the Gujarathi Dandiya fever. Compliments to the Association for this initiative which clicked so well, and surely next year it will rock even more”.
And for that matter, Yours Truly capturing all the happy moments during the couple of Dandiya nights was totally color-blind, from the glittering and sparkling colourful outfits worn by the beautiful women, but did enjoyed one of the BEST Dandiya event that I witnessed so far. Great job and kudos to Subodh Shetty-the president of the Association, to all the men and women of the Maurishka Palace Apartment Owners’ Association, and the residents for putting up a unbelievable and fantastic extravaganza, filled with dance, music, food, prizes, fun & frolic- and what not. But unfortunately, MD of Land Trades couldn’t grace this FIRST of its kind event at his property, as he was out of town- but this report will surely please him, that fun activities will take place at properties launched by Land Trades.
