May God Give Wisdom to Minister Rai to Stop Yettinahole project – Vijaykumar Shetty
Mangaluru: The Netravathi Rakshana Samyukta Samiti held a press meet at hotel Woodlands here on May 13.
Addressing the mediapersons President of NRSS Vijay Kumar Shetty said that the Chief minister has completed three years and has implemented many Bhagyas but he forgot to give neeru bhagya to the people of Dakshina Kannada. He alleged that the people’s representatives are directly responsible for the Yettinahole project since they could have convinced the CM regarding the negative impact of the project and stopped it.
MLAs J R Lobo, Shakuntala Shetty, Vasanth Bangera, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Ganesh Karnik and other leaders have supported the cause and they have participated in the protest but the district minister in-change Ramanath Rai is not bothered. Instead of convincing the CM to stop the project he is giving statements that the drought in DK is not because of the Yettinahole project. We pray to God to give wisdom to our minister to understand the problems the people of DK are facing due to the water crisis.
Shetty further said that some politicians are busy distributing the CM relief fund by inviting the media. The Relief fund money which they are distributing is not from their pocket but the government is providing funds for the needy people which is collected from the people through tax. Earlier the government used to provide very little funds but now more funds are provided from the CMs relief fund to the needy people.
Social Activist M G Hegde said that MLC Ivan D’Souza has announced that he will form a committee to prepare a report on the present water crisis. Prof Vivek Rai, Advocate Dayanath Kotian and Dr Madhyasta will be heading the committee, which the NRSS strongly objects. We request all the three eminent personalities to withdraw their names from the committee, if not we will protest against them and intensify our agitation and also hold them responsible. In what capacity MLC Ivan will form the committee? Whether it is a government order to form the committee? he questioned.
Hegde also said that there are two most influential political leaders who are pressurizing their party members to support the Yettinahole project by giving false hopes of getting them a higher position in the party. People of DK should join hands with NRSS and fight against the government to withdraw the Yettinahole project. At present we are facing a severe water crisis, if we will not fight now, the future generation will be the victims of this project.
Satyajih Suratkal said that the agitation will not be stopped after May 16 and May 19 but it will continue. Recalling a journalist from Puttur who is writing in favor of the Yettinahole project, Satyajith said that the media representatives should join hands with NRSS and write the facts about the Yettinahole project. Let the rain or flood come we will continue our protest until the Yettinahole project is withdrawn.
Advocate Dinakar Shetty, Yogesh Shetty Jeppu and others were also present.
