Mayuri Upadhya-an Choreographer, Dancer & TV Personality Enthralls Houseful Audience at ‘Nrityotsava’
Mayuri Upadhya-an Choreographer, Dancer & TV Personality along with 10 other artists, enthralled the Houseful Audience at Town Hall, Mangaluru with her FIRST time performance in Kudla- the event named ‘Nrityotsava 2019’ organized by Mangaluru’s favourite Radio Station Red FM 93.5
Mangaluru : Mangaloreans witnessed one of the GREATEST DANCE Performance that the City had ever presented. You might have seen her live on TV, or performed with the Raghu Dixit Project, or as one of the judges for the dancing reality shows Dancing Stars Seasons 2 and 3 (a BBC production), and Master Dancer (a Viacom 18 production on Colors Network); or other Musical TV series- but for the FIRST time Mangaloreans watched her perform live on stage at Town Hall, Mangaluru, a show brought to you by Mangaluru’s favourite Radio Station Red FM 93.5
“Nrityotsava 2019” was inaugurated by lighting of the traditional lamp by chief guest MLA and former minister U T Khader, along with other dignitaries on the dais, namely- Dr Mohan Alva -Chairman-Alva’s Education Trust-Moodbidri; Dr Harsha P.S IPS- Police Commissioner of Mangaluru; Shiva Prasad A.S ( Sales Head- Advaith Hyundai); Ravindra M. Shet ( S L Shet Diamond House, Mangaluru; Mukesh Hegde- Proprietor, Car Decor; Prashanth Rai and Sudesh EK (Supra Lights); T Varadaraj Pai ( Yajamana Industries); among others.
Mayuri Upadhya along with a troupe of 10 professional dancers, comprising of six fabulous performances, lasting for an hour, after the show speaking to Team Mangalorean said, . “Although I was born in Udupi, but I had spent my entire life in Bengaluru, doing all my shows in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other places in India. I had started dancing at the age of six, and I thank everyone who had played an important role in my life to reach at this stage. I am overwhelmed at the response shown by Mangaloreans at my first show, which makes me feel to come back again, which I will. Regarding our Nritarutya, our work is shaped by our curiosity – challenging the ordinary, embracing the known, and exploring the unknown. Boasting of a deep connection with our roots, our dance explores varying degrees of human capacities, cultures and connections. Creating thoughtful experiences through their dance, Nritarutya is the storyteller of modern India expanding the frontiers of tradition and art” .
Shobhith Shetty-Station Manager at Radio FM 93.5 welcomed the gathering, while Red FM RJ’s Prasanna, Ms Nayana and Trishool compered the show. Special guest appearance by Lungi movie lead actor Pranav Hegde and actress Ahalya Suresh, also stole the show with their presence. Regarding Ms Mayuri, she started dancing from as young as she can remember and started the building blocks of her dance company in her teens. A danseuse, choreographer, entrepreneur, dreamer and visionary, today Mayuri Upadhya is renowned for delivering visual renditions of imagination.
Over the last two decades, Mayuri has created some of the most memorable work which demonstrates her superlative capability to conceptualize and choreograph on a wide range of themes in an equally wide array of spaces, like Madhushala, Madhur Milan, Make in India Week Opening Ceremony, Mirzya, and many more. She is also the Principle Choreographer for the magnum opus ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ musical. Winner of numerous awards, including a ‘Manav Ratna for contribution in the field of Arts and Culture’ and ‘International Competition for Choreography Concept’ in South Korea, Mayuri is driven by her passion for bringing innovation in art. She is redefining the way dance is perceived, appreciated and treated.
As the Artistic Director of Nritarutya, Mayuri has carved a niche for her company in the creative world. Her descriptive, spatially demanding, thought provoking and heart-warming choreography has won her popular and critical acclaim.
