Mazeed and Shekar Honoured by Gulbarga Advocate for Helping Assault Victims Deepak and Basheer

Mangaluru: The district administration handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 each to Abdul Mazeed and Shekar Kulal at the DC office here on January 30. The cheque was sent by an advocate from Gulbarga for helping to take Deepak Rao and Basheer to the hospital on January 3.

Deepak Rao was murdered at Katipalla on January 3. While Deepak cried for help, Abdul Mazeed who was residing in Katipalla and working with Deepak came to his help. Abdul Mazeed rushed Deepak to the hospital but unfortunately couldn’t save his life.

On the same day night. Basheer was also assaulted by a group. While Shekar Kulal was on the way to drop his colleague at his house, on the way he saw a youth calling for help at Kottara Chowki. Immediately Shekar got down from the Ambulance and shifted Basheer to his vehicle and rushed him to A J Hospital.

Speaking to the mediapersons ADC Kumar said, “The news of the good work done by Abdul Mazeed and Shekar Kulal helping persons of different communities in their time of need was highlighted in the media. Their humane work was noticed by advocate P Vilas Kumar from Gulbarga who decided to honour Abdul Mazeed and Shekar Kulal. He wrote a letter to us and informed that he wanted to honour both Mazeed and Shekar for their humane service and wanted to hand over a cheque of Rs 50,000 each. Advocate Vilas Kumar also mentioned that he wanted the money to go directly to Mazeed and Shekar, so he requested the help of district administration. Today we are handing over the cheque to them for their good work.”

A Cheques were handed over to Mazeed and Shekar by the DCP law and order Hanumantharaya and ADC Kumar.

After receiving the cheque addressing the mediapersons Mazeed said, “I am working as a distributor of SIM and Currency at Tata DOCOMO. Deepak was my colleague and I am a resident of Katipalla. The incident took place near my house. On January 3, I heard Deepak’s cry for help. When I came to help him I saw Deepak in a pool of blood. I immediately called the police and rushed Deepak to the hospital but Deepak had breathed his last on the way.”

Shekar Kulal from Akash Bhavan said, “When I was on my way to drop my colleague Rohit by Ambulance on the Kottara Chowki service road near Mahesh College, I saw a boy who was desperately seeking help. I immediately got down from the Ambulance and ran near the person who was injured. With the help of Rohit I shifted Basheer to the ambulance and rushed him to AJ Hospital. Later I informed the police about the incident because I thought it is important to save his life by admitting him to the hospital as soon as possible. I had known Basheer seeing him in the area but know his son well.”

Addressing the mediapersons DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya said, “When Deepak was hacked, he cried for help and Mazeed came running from his home. Mazeed also shifted Deepak to the hospital and informed the police. We really need to appreciate the work done by Mazeed and Shekar.”
