MCC Aiming 1st Rank in Swachh Survekshan 2018, Public Participation Requested

Mangaluru: “In order to foster a healthy competition between cities for improving cleanliness standards, the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) started the “Swachh Survekshan” survey, ranking of cities on cleanliness and other aspects of urban sanitation. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has initiated “Swachh Survekshan 2018″ which will conduct a survey to rank cities in the state. Last year 27 cities in the state participated in the Swachh Survekshan and Mangaluru got 63rd rank in the country. In the 2018 Swachh Survekshan we need to get the first rank for which MCC has taken all the measures. All the cities in the country will take part in Swachh Survekshan – 2018. The Swachh Survekshan team will be coming for inspection in the first week of January. Public participation is very much important and I request all the people of Mangaluru to download the app and be active”, said the Mayor of MCC Kavitha Sanil in a press meet held at MCC premises here on November 3.

Addressing the mediapersons Mayor Kavitha said, “The performance evaluation will be done in three phases. The Data provided by the Municipal Body (1400 marks), Data collection through direct observation by the central team (1200 marks), collection of Citizen feedback (1400 marks) and independent assessment (-440 marks). The area of evaluation is Waste collection, Sweeping and Transportation, Information, Education and Behaviour Change, Capacity Building and innovation.”

Addressing the mediapersons MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir said, “We have decided to select Naveen D Padil as the brand ambassador of Swachh Survekshan 2018.”

Mohammed Nazir further said, “Public participation will be given priority in the Swachh Survekshan – 2018”.

There will be 6 questions to the public they are:

  1. Are you aware that your city is participating in the “Swachh Survekshan 2018” for Swachaata Ranking?
  2. Did you find your area cleaner than last year?
  3. This year, have you started utilizing litter bins placed in public areas?
  4. Are you satisfied with segregated door to door waste collection this year?
  5. Do you think the number of urinals /toilets have gone up in comparison to last year thus decreasing open urination/defecation in the city?
  6. Are CT / PTs now more clean and accessible?

Mohammed Nazir also said, “Already 464 people have downloaded the App and they are active, in the coming days more and more people will download the app. We are also targetting the students to take part in Swachh Survekshan 2018.”

Sashidhar Hegde, Nagaveni, Manjayya Shetty and others were also present.

“Mangaluru got 63rd rank in the country” – Report quoting Mayor

LOL LOL LOL
What do you expect? Do you want people to lie about the reality? City looks like war torn Somalia with garbage, filth and unfinished/broken infrastructure. More importantly, where were these city officials and politicians when Ramakrishna monks were cleaning the city streets weekend after weekend? I encourage mangaluru citizen to provide honest feedback during this survey. This is the only way to wake up those corrupt, incompetent individuals who refuse to do their jobs.
