MCC Books Construction Sites for Breeding Mosquitoes

Mangaluru: Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred held a press meet at her office, at the MCC premises here, on March 5.

Addressing the mediapersons, Mayor Jacintha said, “The city corporation has taken up various steps to build essential basic amenities like roads, drainage system, waste management, water supply, street lights, sewage system etc, along with several programmes for the welfare of the poor and the dalits.”

She further said, “We have set up a cell to eradicate poverty in the city, which has been doing significant work in this field.” Vajpayee Nagara Vasati project, Swastha Kuteera, Kuteera Jyothi, Rashtriya Nagara Jeevanopaya Abhiyaan are some of the flagship projects for the poor.

She said, “24.10% funds are allotted from the corporation funds for the development of the SC/ST community, 7.25% funds are reserved for the poor, 3% funds are reserved for the disabled. Of the 24.10% and 7.25% funds, 40% are utilized for individual beneficiaries and rest 60% of the funds are utilized for community development. Of the 3% funds, 50% funds are used for individual beneficiaries and the remaining 50% are utilized for community programmes.”

“A grand programme will be held by the cell to eradicate poverty  at the Town Hall on March 7 at 10 am. Around 1200 beneficiaries will receive various privileges,” she added. Under the 24.10% funds, the corporation has sanctioned grants for, building houses, self employment, constructed toilets, built drinking water outlets, issued LPG connections, distributed laptops, promoted sports and given medical facilities at a total cost of Rs 1,37,60,000.

Projects undertaken from 7.25% funds are, building houses, toilets, tap water connections, self employment, medical assistance and LPG connections at a total expense of Rs 75,35,000. 3% funds i.e Rs 22,22,000 are utilized for projects like, counseling the disabled, reimbursement of medical expenses, building houses, distribution of sewing machines, funding NGO’s, self employment, LPG connections, tap water connections, scholarships, building toilets, etc.

On the charges of corrupt practices laid by the opposition, she said, “The special assembly was called as per the provisions and there was nothing wrong with it. Let them complain to the Lokayukta, they will handle it. As per the issue of tenders sanctioned in the assembly is concerned, the Mayor has the power to sanction funds after calling tenders. This is not the first time that the Mayor has approved a project through the tender process, BJP has also done this before.”

She further said, “In a drive to curb the spread of malaria, the MCC has filed seven cases against institutions and buildings violating the norms to control malaria. AJ Institute in Bangra Kulur, Petunia in Shakti Nagar, Alexandria at Light House Hill road, Falnir Health Centre, Falnir Terraces, MAK the Address and Kudva’s Grandeur are the seven buildings that are booked.”

The entire mangaluru city looks like a construction site with garbage and construction materials on public display at every step!!! The non-existing footpaths are death traps and the market areas are heights of unhygienic activities. Drivers don’t follow traffic rules while honking at everything they see!! So, I don’t know who these people shown in pics, what they do or what they are talking about!!!!

Mr Pai you said correctly without anything missing. Every meeting of DC office and MCC office is just speeches. Malaria and Dengue is topic but action is zero. Go to Health Dept. of MCC and tell them and they will tell you that notice is given. But they will not tell you whom it is given. I have given information on many sites but nothing yet. Next one will be Zika Fewer to add to list for topic to make fool of people.
