Mangaluru: After the District President announced the list of the candidates for the MCC elections, there was commotion between former mayor Gulzar Banu and former MLA Moideen Bava supporters outside the Hotel Ocean Pearl here on October 30.
The Election commission has announced the date for the MCC elections which will be held on November 12.
On October 30, District Congress President Harish Kumar and the Congress leaders had called a press meet at Hotel Ocean Pearl at 7:30 pm to announce the list of candidates to contest the MCC elections. The final list was announced by the District Congress President Harish Kumar in which the name of former mayor Gulzar Banu was missing. Gulzar Banu’s supporters were upset and blamed former MLA Moideen Bava for denying her the ticket.
Soon after the meeting, Gulzar Banu’s supporters took Moideen Bava to task. There was a tussle between the supporters of Moideen Bava and Gulzar Banu. It is alleged that Gulzar Banu’s supporters tried to assault Moideen Bava. Later the Congress leaders intervened and convinced the disgruntled supporters of both the leaders.
There were more than 250 aspirants from 60 wards interested to contest the MCC elections. Many of the youth congress leaders are disappointed as they did not get the ticket to contest the MCC elections. The former corporator from Congress has jumped to the BJP and will be contesting for the Falnir ward as she did not get the ticket from the Congress party.
Who is your informer? It’s not true. She isn’t contesting from BJP or Falnir. Don’t malign people’s reputation for God’s sake for the sake of views.
