MCC Qatar celebrates Christmas Joy with Children

Qatar: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar ushered in the spirit of Christmas with the Children’s Christmas party that was organized on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Al Jazeera Academy Hall.

Christmas spirit could be felt so much in the hall with all the Christmas tree, crib, decorations and all dressed in Christmas colours with the joyful smile on all kids. Around eighty club children in the age groups of up to sixteen years, attended the party and shared in the joy, celebrations and gifts from Santa Claus.

Shalini Montero, Cultural committee member was the compere of the evening. She opened the evening introducing the meaning of Christmas to the kids. Delviya Lobo invoked God’s blessings with an opening prayer. Prakash Noronha, President welcomed the gathering and shared the Christmas message. A Christmas play describing the birth of Jesus Christ, with the angel’s message to Mary, shepherds visit and three kings with their gifts was all well enacted by the kids and delivered the Christmas message. The whole play was coordinated by Kavita Tauro.

Young children sang beautifully Christmas carols in Konkani & English while talented budding musician Joshua Pinto accompanied them on keyboard ushering loudly the spirit of Christmas joy. They were trained by Wilma D’Souza and Eva Wilma Pinto. As the carols ended Santa Claus walked in surprising the kids with his gifts and entertained them dancing along with them.

Santa Claus along with President and all kids joined in cutting the Christmas Cake, M C Shalini then kept all children, as well as all adults, present busy with different games like candy sticks, balloons, Christmas beard, etc forming 4 groups of Christmas Stars, Christmas Bells, Christmas Silver Balls and Christmas Red Balls group and had competitions between these groups. Christmas silver balls group won the first place, Christmas bells won second and Christmas red balls won third place.

Riana Pinto, General Secretary delivered the vote of thanks, Christen Denzil provided sound and music. William Lobo along with other volunteers helped in the decorations. Kids were all given Christmas goodies and a Christmas souvenir along with snacks as they left filled with Christmas cheer.

MCC would like to thank the volunteers and parents who were instrumental in bringing in the Christmas cheer and putting a smile on the faces of the little children.

MCC takes this opportunity to wish one and all a Merry Christmas and the season’s greetings of peace and joy to all families and a Joyous & Prosperous New Year 2017.
