Media and District Administration should work together for Development of City – DC
Mangaluru: Dr Jagadeesha after taking charge as the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, interacted with the media at the DC office here on August 1.
Addressing the mediapersons Dr Jagadeesha said, “This is a courtesy call to discuss with you, issues pertaining to the district can be discussed and solved. If we need to carry out development work in the district, the media and the district administration should work hand in hand. As per my knowledge, Mangaluru is an advanced city and the people are highly educated, be it in education, health, medical or development. If we compare to other districts DK is the most advanced district”.
He further said, “There are various challenges in the district. We need to learn about the problems and challenges before taking up any work. I have come here twice, once I came here as a tourist and second time I had come along with the minister when I was working as an MD of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation. I have the vision to serve the district well and I need your support. Any problem in the district, the media is the first to know”, he said.
When asked about the sand policy which has not been implemented so far and the former DC had expressed his disappointment for failing to implement the sand policy, DC Jagadeesha said, “I will surely study the problem and try to solve it. I will also meet the former DC in this regard”.
Dr Jagadeesha also said that the DC alone cannot solve all the problems, the media along with the people should join hands in solving the problems in the District.
When asked about the problems in the city such as roads, parking problems, and unauthorized buildings, DC said that it will take some time to study and solve these problems. I am very happy to serve in this district, but for further growth of the city, we need to take proper measures along with the support from the people. Long-term planning is necessary, I will discuss all the issues raised here with the concerned authorities along with the district minister in-charge.”
Regarding MRPL land acquisition the DC said, “I will have a detailed meeting with the authorities. Right now I do not have any knowledge about the MRPL land acquisition. We need the city to grow along with development, but social equality is also important. If we need to see economic growth we have to encourage industries so that the youth get employment in the district”.
ADC Kumar and Information officer Khader Shah were also present.
