Media Report Effect : Destitute Devamma (85) Rejoins Family
Beltangady: About ten days ago, it was reported in these columns that a senior woman had tried to jump into river Netravati at Dharmasthala.
She was rescued by others and enquired after. She had refused to give any information but was insistent on ending her life. Pending receipt of further information, she was handed to the care of Seon Ashram in Gandibagilu.
The media report was spotted by the well-wishers of the family and they were informed. They arrived in Dharmasthala and provided the police with her full details.
She is Devamma (85) of Devanahalli in Bengaluru. She is a mother of six. She was undergoing depression over her son’s illness and had left home without informing anyone.
The Dharmasthala police have now handed over her to the family’s care.
