Medical Imaging CME 2024: A Focus on Radiation Protection held at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University)

Mangalore: The Medical Imaging Technology unit of Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program under the theme “Practical Approaches to Radiation Protection in Medical Practices” at the Yendurance zone of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). The event attracted over 460 delegates, showcasing a substantial engagement from the medical community.

The CME was presided over by Dr. B. H. Sripathi Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), highlighting the institution’s commitment to advancing medical education. The program featured Dr. Devadasa Acharya, Professor and Head of the Department of Radiodiagnosis & Medical Imaging at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, as the chief guest. His insights on radiation safety were particularly well-received by attendees. Additionally, Dr. Jayapalan K, Senior Medical Physicist, and Radiation Safety Officer at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital served as the Guest of Honor, further emphasizing the importance of safety protocols within medical imaging practices.

Mr. Karthik S., the Program Coordinator for Medical Imaging Technology, opened the gathering by welcoming participants and setting the stage for an enriching day of discussions and learning. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Vashist Baburao Mhalsekar, Assistant Professor at the Medical Imaging Technology unit, acknowledging the efforts of all those involved in organizing the CME.

The organizing committee comprised dedicated individuals including Mr. Adithya G Rao, Ms. Swati Kumari, Ms. Renisha Divina D’Souza, Ms. Joswita Monterio, Mr. Kamalesh C, Mr. Akhil Raj P, and Mr. Dani N Jijo, whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the event.
