Medical Student Dies, 3 others injured in Road Mishap near NMPT
Mangaluru: One person died and three others were injured when the car which they were traveling crashed into the road divider near NMPT guest house here on July 28 late night.
The deceased has been identified as Bhargav (26), a native of Telangana. The injured are Rakshith Reddy (26), of Karnataka; Paras from Punjab and Bharatraj from Tamilnadu. All the four are PG students of A J Hospital.
According to police, On July 28, Rakshith Reddy along with Bharatraj, Bharghav and Paras went to A J Canteen to have dinner. After having dinner, they were on the way to Tannirbavi Beach to relax. Rakshith Reddy was driving the car at a very high speed. When they reached near NMPT VIP guest house, Rakshith lost control over the car, the car hit the road divider, flew to a distance before landing on the other side of the road where the construction work was going on.
In the mishap, Rakshith and Bharatraj who were wearing the seatbelt escaped with minor injuries, but Bhargav was severely injured and was admitted to A J Hospital. On July 29, at 4.45 pm Bhargav succumbed to his injuries. Paras too has been admitted to the hospital with head injuries.
Speaking to mangalorean.com ACP Traffic Tilakchandra said, “We have informed the NMPT officials to put proper road signs, speed breakers and signboards near the guest house to avoid accidents during the night”.
A case has been registered in Suratkal North Traffic police station.
