Mega Christmas Carol Singing Competition – ‘Natalam Gitam Gayan Spardo’ -2016

Bengaluru: Carmelites along with the Carmel Kutam organised the Konkani Carol Singing Competition ‘Natalam Gitam Gayan Spardo’ -2016, at Sadbhavana Premises on December 11. This is for the third time such a programme has been organised since its dawn in 2014. There was an overwhelming response from all over the city of Bengaluru as 90 participants took part in the competitions in three sections, viz., children, youth, adults under three categories solo, duet and group singing.

The programme began with a prayer dance by the children from Carmel Kutam at 2:30 pm. Fr Silvestre D’Souza, the provincial councillor, Maxim Lobo, a well-known columnist in various Konkani Magazine and Ovida Pinto, a budding singer were given the task of choosing the winners by judging their singing quality and stage performance. Ever smiling Pramila D’Souza compered the programme.

Maxim Lobo expressed his sentiments on behalf of the judges. Sianna Lobo BKCS Koramangala, Sharon Mascarenhas, Vijayanagar and Melania Lobo, BKCS Koramangala won the solo competitions whereas Sianna Lobo and Allan Brags BKCS Koramangala, Dovita Lobo and Evita Lobo, Vijayangara and Christline and Jennifer, Sezari Bommnahalli were declared winners in the duet category and Carmel Kutam, KCS Yeshwanthpur, Sezari Bommanahalli secured the coveted prize in the group singing for children, youth, and adult category respectively.

Fr Richard Menezes declared the winners and Fr Silvestre D’Souza, Sr Celine D’Cunha, General Councilor of PDDM presently working in Rome and Dolphy D’Cunha, president of Carmel Kutam distributed the prizes consisting of a trophy and cash to the winners. BKCS Koramangala was honoured with a Rolling Shield for their all-round performance which was presented by Marina Pinto.
