The contractor who was setting up the pandal/chairs speaking to Team Mangalorean said that the area of the pandal is about 3.54 sq ft, and around 90 thousand chairs have been already arranged and if needed more chairs will be added. All this arrangement is for the big bash of “Rajata Sambrama” where Dr M N Rajendra Kumar will be felicitated for his 25 long years, serving as President of South Canara District Central Co-operative (SCDCC) Bank Ltd, and also the 20th Anniversary of Navodaya- a Self -Help Group initiated by the Bank.

Added to this mega main stage, there are two additional small stages by the side of it on each side, where about 150 persons could be accommodated on each stage. There will be separate VVIP and VIP enclosures in the Molahalli Shiva Rao auditorium, which is the name given to the celebration venue. Security has been fully arranged, with police and Home Guards at the helm of controlling the crowd. Also, around 1000 volunteers will also help in the cleanliness in and around the pandal, including dining area.

On Saturday all roads will lead to the Nehru Maidan where this mega event is held, and so we are talking about massive parking for vehicles coming from in and around Mangaluru, and from the State. Co-operatives from various part of the state will converge at the venue, which has around 10,000 members from North Karnataka, and Shivamogga. Nearly 21 wedding/function halls in the city have been booked for the guests to rest and refresh themselves.

Reminds me of Mayavati’s self-aggrondizement on her birthdays when she was the chief minister. 25 years service is definitely great. But do you need a function at this scale? Unless the person has an ambition to enter politics, you won’t have this scale of celebrations. But this gentleman denies any political ambition. So the money could have spent more meanigfully.
