Mentally ill Person Attacks Three, One Serious
Karkala: A person suffering from depression attacked three persons at Kedinje, Bola of Karkala Taluk on May 1.
Manwi (9) resident of Madyar, her grandmother Rohini (60) and aunt Swapna (40) sustained injuries in the attack. They now being treated in a private hospital in Manipal.
The accused has been identified as Umesh who is suffering from depression and is found trespassing in Kedinje Bola.
Umesh entered the house of Rohini (60) as the main door was open. When Swapna asked him to leave, she was attacked by him, he then picked a sickle which was lying nearby assaulted Manwi who was sleeping and later attacked Rohini.
The neighbors who heard the screams from Rohini’s house rushed to help and nabbed Umesh. He was then handed him over to the police. He was admitted to a hospital in Karkala and later shifted to Wenlock hospital Mangaluru.
A case has also been filed against 15 persons for allegedly tying the accused to a pole and assaulting him.
A case has been registered in the Karkala Rural Police Station, and the investigation is on.
