Los Angeles, Jan 12 (IANS) Michael Keaton and Amy Adams were Sunday night awarded with the Best Performance by an Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical title at the 72nd Golden Globe ceremony here.

Keaton was lauded for his work in “Birdman”, in which he essays the role of a washed-up actor, who once played an iconic superhero. The film chronicles his journey of mounting a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glory.

His performance was up against Ralph Fiennes (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”), Bill Murray (“St. Vincent”), Joaquin Phoenix (“Inherent Vice”) and Christoph Waltz (“Big Eyes”) for the Golden Globe award.

Amy Adams was emotional when she received her trophy for “Big Eyes”, a biographical film, where she is seen as successful painter Margaret Keane.

Keane gets herself involved in legal hassles with her husband, who claimed credit for her works.

Amy was pitted against Emily Blunt (“Into The Woods”), Helen Mirren (“The Hundred-foot Journey”), Julianne Moore (“Maps To The Stars”) and Quvenzhane Wallis (“Annie”) for the award.
