Milagres Cathedral observes Religious Day to Mark Platinum Jubilee
Udupi: A large number of religious men and women who have dedicated their lives to the service of God and humanity and are serving in different parts of India and other countries assembled to celebrate the Religious day on Saturday, December 10 as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the church building of Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur.
Fr Roshan Menezes OFM, Episcopal Vicar for Religious of Udupi Diocese concelebrated the mass as the chief celebrant along with other priests all natives of Kallianpur parish.
In his homily, Msgr Baptist Menezes Vicar General of Udupi Diocese said, to live a dedicated religious life the grace of God and the prayers of the people are very essential. He recalled the role of the parents and family members of all the religious men and women who have dedicated their children to the service of God and people. In the life of the religious, Vicar General stressed on four words that Jesus had used to his disciples that have been relevant in the lives of the religious – ‘Be a Prayerful person’. He had asked his Apostles ‘Be my Loving Disciple’ He had called his Apostles ‘Be my serving Disciple’ and had urged ‘Be forgiving Disciples’.
Soon after the mass refreshment was served to all those who attended the mass. The felicitation function followed at the Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall.
Msgr Baptist Menezes Vicar General of Udupi Diocese presided over the function. Prof. Hilda Rodrigues secretary of Parish Pastoral council delivered the congratulatory remarks on behalf of the church.
Fr Wilfred Lewis, Fr George Lewis and Sr Julia expressed gratitude to Fr Stany Lobo and the Parish council for organising the ‘Religious Day’.
Fr Stany B Lobo Rector of the cathedral, Walter Cyril Pinto vice president PPC, Prof Hilda Rodrigues honoured all the religious men and women with a memento.
Walter Cyril Pinto vice president PPC delivered the vote of thanks, Fr Dr Anil Prakash Castelino compered the programme. Fr Rolwin Aranha assistant parish priest of the church was also present.
