This is an easy-to-do starter. The filling is your choice..but I have observed that whenever the filling is made from sausages ?they disappear in a jiffy ;).
Ingredients
Frozen puff-pastry sheets
Egg
1 packet sausages
2 onions
2 tomatoes
Coriander leaves
Dry Oregano
Basil powder
Pepper powder
Chilly powder
Tomato sauce
Chilly sauce
Oyster sauce
Salt
Oil
Method:
Let the frozen puff-pastry sheets thaw to room temperature. Beat an egg and keep aside.
Pre-heat the oven and keep on a gas-mark of 3 or 4.
Cut sausages, tomatoes, onions very fine. Clean and chop coriander leaves. In a non-stick vessel add a little oil and fry the onions till translucent. Then add tomatoes and fry for 2 or 3 minutes. Add sausages and fry till cooked. Then add chilly powder, pepper powder, basil, oregano and sauces. Adjust seasoning as required. Put down from fire and add coriander leaves.
A puff-pastry sheet will be roughly the size of a CD disk. Cut each square sheet into two ? so from each sheet you will get two rectangular sheets. Put a teaspoon of filling at the bottom edge of the rectangular puff-pastry sheet. Fold the top part of the pastry over the filling and apply water to the edges and seal firmly. You may gently press the edges with a fork if desired.
Line a baking tray with the prepared puffs and dip a pastry-brush in the beaten egg and roll over the puffs. (This gives the golden glaze to the puffs).
Bake for 15-20 minutes or till golden brown.
