Minister Jayamala inaugurates three-day long Flower Show at Barkur
Udupi: Hundreds of people thronged the district-level flower show organized by the Department of Horticulture Udupi district at ‘Nandarayana Kote’ in Barkur on Friday, January 25.
Dr Jayamala Udupi district minister in-charge inaugurated the show. More than 1,000 people visited the show on the first day.
The department organised a flower show, using different varieties of flowers such as rose, gerbera, lilium, aster, daisy including fish, elephant, Shivalinga, Butterfly, Micky Mouse etc.
Among the horticultural products on display were tender coconut, arecanut, cashew and black pepper, fruits including banana, jackfruit etc. There was an exhibition of the ‘Mattu Gulla’ vegetable from Udupi district, which enjoyed Geographical Indication (GI) tag which attracted a good crowd.
Hundreds of school students, farmers and residents participated in the programme. Various types of flowers captivated visitors.
Flowers like roses, salvia, chrysanthemum, jasmine, marigold, zinnia and other flowers have been arranged neatly in pots.
