Minister Jayamala lays foundation stone for Rangayana, Ranga Mandir at Adi-Udupi

Udupi: District In-charge Minister Dr Jayamala laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Theatre Institute Rangayana and Ranga Mandir in Adi Udupi on November 30.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Jayamala said, “Udupi district is a distinctly diverse district among all the districts of the state. There are many talented people in Udupi district and it is known for introducing various cultural artistes to the state as well as the nation. Udupi district has great leaders who have made name and fame in various arts. Rangayana and Ranga Mandir are essential for such a district”.

Further speaking Jayamala said, “The Rangayana and Ranga Mandira will be constructed at a cost of Rs seven crore in one acre and 37 cents of land. The land has been provided by the district administration for the construction of Ranga Mandir in Adiudupi near the APMC Yard. The Department of Kannada and Culture has provided ₹ 2 crores for the construction of Ranga Mandir in the first phase. The construction work of the Ranga Mandir will start soon”, she said.

The Ranga Mandir will have a seating capacity for 700 persons and will have two sophisticated green rooms, improvised sound system and parking facilities for the visitors.

Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Taluk Panchayat president Nalini Pradeep Rao, Additional DC Vidya Kumari, Rangayana Director Mahesh Patel, Ganesh and others were present.
