Minister Khader Inaugurates Karavali Utsav
Mangaluru: To mark the Karavali Utsav the district administration held a colourful procession from Nehru Maidan to the Karavali Utsav Grounds Lalbagh here on December 21.
The colourful procession was inaugurated by the District Minister In-charge U T Khader along with other dignitaries. The procession culminated at the Utsav Grounds where the minister inaugurated the Karavali Utsav. Various cultural troupes participated in the procession from Nehru Maidan to the Karavali grounds.
The programme began with an invocation. ADC Kumar welcomed the gathering. Renowned music director Gurukiran inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering minister U T Khader said, “Karavali Utsav is a meaningful festival. The tradition and culture of Dakshina Kannada is very meaningful. By organizing Utsav’s we are highlighting our tradition and Culture nationally and internationally. Let this week-long festival be a successful one. I also would like to thank the organizers for the wonderful arrangements”.
Minister Khader further said, “When the economy is strong, the district will develop fast. After Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Mysuru are the fastest developing districts. There will be no doubt that in the coming days Mangaluru will the number one city in the state. I have held discussions with the CM and the DC regarding KIDBA related issues. Under the Amrith scheme funds have been released for drinking water. The government will give priority for basic facilities in the district.”
While concluding U T Khader said, “I urge the public to be a part of this celebration and make it a successful one. Students should actively take part in cultural programmes to know more about the culture and tradition of our district.”
The district administration organized the Karavali Utsav but the MP, MLAs of BJP, Tourism minister Mahesh, Minister Jayamala, JD(S) leaders, MLCs were not present for the programme.
DC Sasikanth Senthil, Police Commissioner T R Suresh, MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Mayor Bhaskar and others were also present.
