Minister Khader Inaugurates Pulse Police Drive
Mangaluru: The District Minister In-charge U T Khader inaugurated the district-level pulse polio drive at the Lady Goschen hospital here on March 10.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. Minister U T Khader along with MP Nalin Kumar Kateel administered the polio drops to the infants.
Addressing the gathering U T Khader said, “I would like to congratulate our district doctors for holding the drive every year. In December 1999 Dakshina Kannada was declared a Polio free district. In 2007 our state was also declared Polio free state. The World Health Organization announced India as a Polio free country on March 27, 2014. We also need to take precautionary measures to eradicate all contagious diseases.”
U T Khader further said, “We have targetted 1,49562 children up to 5 years of age in our district. Pulse polio drops are very much important for children. Every parent should immunize their child against polio”.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, DC Sasikanth Senthil, Mayor Jacintha, DHO Ramakrishna Rao, RCHO Dr Rajesh B V, Doctor Savitha, Dr Julian Saldana, Dr Balakrishna and others were also present.
