Minister Khader Opposes Union Govt’s Decision to Privatize Mangaluru Airport
Mangaluru: The District minister in-charge U T Khader said that the state government will oppose the decision of the union government on the privatization of Mangaluru International Airport. The Union government has not consulted the state government in this matter.
Minister Khader speaking at a press meet held at the Circuit House on November 30 said, “The state government has spent a lot of money on the development of Mangalore International Airport. Now the central government without consulting the state government has decided to privatize the Airport. The decision of the central government is not right if the airport is privatized, a number of workers will lose their jobs”, he said.
The Union Government should answer to the people of the state about the benefits of privatizing the airport. Why the Union ministry of Aviation has failed to manage the Airport? The BJP speaks about the Swadeshi Mantra and is supporting Privatization. It clearly shows the double standards of the BJP, Khader said.
Earlier the central government had decided to privatize the Kerala Airport and later changed its decision and is now planning to privatize the Mangalore Airport. The Local MP should convey the peoples’ opinion in this regard to the minister in the Parliament, said Khader.
