Minister Khader Refutes Allegation on Drug Scam
Mangaluru: Health and family welfare minister U T Khader held a press meet at the Circuit House, here on May 22.
Addressing the mediapersons, U T Khader refutes the allegations levelled by former BBMP corporator N R Ramesh against him in a drug scam. Khader also said, “I am ready for any investigation and if the allegations are proven, I will take political retirement.”
Khader further said, “I have not done anything wrong. For publicity, the corporator has put false allegations on me to defame me. BBMP is an autonomous body and the health ministry has no connection with it. I have handed over the issue to the Mayor of BBMP for further investigations. The corporator also claims that out of 81 companies, 15 are non-existent but he did not mention the names of the companies. This proves that his allegations are baseless. The people of the state should not believe him.”
He also said that one cannot just claim that the medicines are of poor quality. You need sufficient proof to back your allegations. The drug controller has said that all the 81 companies are genuine. If there is any complaint about the poor quality of drugs, anyone can call 104 and file complain, he said.
When asked about Janardhan Poojary’s statement on him, Khader said, “I respect Janardhan Poojary and will listen to his advise. I know Poojary since my childhood, he was very close to my parents.”
When asked about the negligence on Yettinahole project, Khader replied that the Yettinahole project will go on. “At this stage, it is not in our hands to stop it. When BJP was in power, they had approved the project and Congress is implementing it. Instead of fighting against the Yettinahole project, this is the right time to demand Paschima Vahini. If Poojary would have won the elections and become the MP he would have fought at the central level and stopped the project. It is our bad luck that Poojary did not win the elections.”
On the district suffering with the water crisis and the Abbakkotsava being celebrated during this time in Bengaluru, Khader said that it is an attempt to popularize Abbakka at the state-level. When the members of the Abbakkotsava committee were not getting funds from the government, they were going from door-to-door for collection and celebrating the Abbakka Jayanthi. Now the government is providing funds and those who had worked hard have the right to be in the committee, Khader clarified.
“if the allegations are proven, I will take political retirement” – report quoting a minister.
Retirement? No – let me correct you. If the allegations are proven, then you will go to parappana agrahaara!!!!! As to his comments on yettina hole project, did anyone ask him for more details on ‘paschima vaahini’? Did anyone ask him about govt’s plans for mangalooru district if and when yettinahole project is implemented? Oh well….
