Minister Khader Visits Construction Site of New DC Office at Padil

Mangaluru: The Housing and Urban Development minister U T Khader visited the under construction DC office in Padil along with the former minister and other officials on July 27.

Minister U T Khader inspected the construction site, met the engineers and inquired on the progress of the work.

Later speaking to the mediapersons U T Khader said, “We are shifting the DC office from Statebank to Padil. The DC office building will have an area of 2.25 lakh sq ft (G + 2) and is being built at a cost of Rs 41 crore having parking space for 234 vehicles. Former Chief Minister CM Siddaramaiah had sanctioned the funds and the work of the building was started 4 months ago. The initiative was taken by the Congress government to build a model DC office in Dakshina Kannada district. I invited the former minister and the MLA to inspect the site and the ongoing work and if any changes have to be made in the construction or design, we will hold meetings with the concerned authorities”.

U T Khader further said, “All the 38 departments will be shifted here. The Health Department has already provided Rs 7 crore for the construction work when I was the minister. We have also received Rs 3 Crore from the Labour Department and Rs 1 crore from the Irrigation department for the construction work. Funds will be collected from various departments and the construction work will be completed. There was a dispute with NGT but we have settled it by giving them land at Bangra Kulur.”

Minister Khader also said, “We are planning to develop the road from Bajal – Padil – Jappinamogeru which will connect the National highway. I have discussed the matter with the Chief Minister and the DCM to speed up the work. Regarding survey issues, single site, conversion, revenue sketch, 9/11 and MUDA we have already held three meetings. We will find a permanent solution for all the revenue department related issues. Implementation of the Single Window system has also been discussed with the officials of a company and on August 15 MUDA will operate with the new automated system.”

The DC office construction work will complete by December 2019. Former minister Ramanath Rai, Former MLA J R Lobo, DC Sasikanth Senthil, ADC Kumar, former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde were also present.
