Minister Khader Visits KMC Hospital, Enquires on Quraishi’s Health

Mangaluru: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader visited KMC hospital at Jyothi on April 8, to enquire on the health condition of Ahmed Quraishi.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Minister Khader said, “I visited the hospital, met the doctors to know about Quraishi’s health. There are allegations that because of the police torture, Quraishi is suffering from Kidney failure. As per the doctors, Quraishi is improving. I have visited the hospital purely on humanitarian grounds, met the doctors and enquired about the treatment Quraishi receives in the hospital.”

When asked about the Lathi Charge on protesters, Khader said, “It is wrong to gherao the police commissioner’s office without permission. I do not support the protesters for that, they should take permission before holding such protests. Blocking the road and disrupting the traffic is not a good sign. It is alleged that Quraishi has been tortured by the police and we are concerned about it. An officer has been appointed to enquire about Quraishi and find out whether he is involved in any crime or tortured by the police.”
