Minister Pramod Inaugurates Kaushalkar Web portal and registration campaign

Udupi: Under the State Governments Kaushalya Karnataka Mission, the inauguration of the Web portal and registration campaign was held at the Board High School Udupi here on Monday, May 15.

The programme began with an invocation, Nayana, Nodel officer of Kaushalya Karnataka Mission for Udupi district welcomed the gathering. Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge inaugurated the www.kaushalkar.com Web portal and registration campaign.

In his message, Pramod Madhwaraj said that Udupi district is far ahead in human resources compared to all other districts in the state. Chief minister Siddaramaiah is always supporting the development of Students and younger section. The government has established a new Department of Skill Development Entrepreneurship and Livelihood and the CM himself is in-charge of the department. The department has designed a new web portal that enables youth to register themselves and avail training in various skills required to meet the job market. In spite of being educated, most of the rural youth fail to find jobs since they lack skills that the industry requires. Through this programme, we will not only impart skills but also provide placement opportunities after the training, he added.

The State Department of Skill Development Entrepreneurship and Livelihood hopes to provide jobs to five lakh rural youth under the ‘Kaushalya Karnataka Mission’. The Udupi district has been given a target of 9100 registrations. Students should make use of the scheme, he added.

M Maheshwara Rao Udupi district secretary in-charge in his message said that the programme has been initiated as part of the state government’s skill development programme for the year 2017-18. The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood have decided to give proper skill development training to about five lakh youth in the State so that they could get employed. The youth could register their names and other details on the portal or in an app, he added.

Priyanka Mary Francis deputy commissioner of Udupi said that the registration of the unemployed youth would be taken up for 10 days. Youth in the age group of 18-35 years, including illiterate youth, are also eligible to apply. Applicants will be trained during skill development programmes based on preferences. The youths are requested to follow the norms under each programme.

Aspirants can register their names through the web portal. The drive will be taken up for 10 days. Even after 10 days, aspirants are eligible to register their names. The Aadhaar number is important. While the Aadhar kit would be made available for those who do not have the Aadhaar card to get it done, authentic identity is must, she added.
