Minister Pramod Madhwaraj offers prayers for bountiful rain
Udupi: Minister for Fisheries, Sports, Youth Affairs, and Minister in-charge District Pramod Madhwaraj offered prayers seeking bountiful rain at the Sri Anantheshawara and Sri Chandramouleshwara temple in Udupi.
Pejawar Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji offered prayers along with Pramod Madhwaraj in the presence of CMC President Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, Vice President Sandhya Tilak Raj and other CMC officials and members. As the part of offering prayers, the deities will be given abhisheka with tender coconut (Siyala Abhisheka). Pejawar Swamiji leading the prayers, prayed for bountiful rain.
Later speaking to media persons Pramod Madhwaraj said that there is severe water scarcity in the district, the Baje dam contains water 1.25 meters lower than it had last year during this time. The water available now is enough for 20 days, and alternate arrangements will be made to ensure the supply of water to the people.
If there is rain in the catchment areas it will help the CMC to manage the water scarcity. God gives us light, water and air, he will bless us with bountiful rain, he added.
CMC Commissioner Manjunathaiah, CMC Member Janardhan Bhandarkar, Ramesh Kanchan and others were present.
