Minister Rai lays Foundation for Various Development Projects at Wenlock
Mangaluru: The foundation laying ceremony for various development projects was held at the Wenlock hospital here on March 10.
The programme began with the state anthem. DHO Ramakrishna welcomed the gathering. DMO Rajeshwari Devi delivered the keynote address.
The district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai laid the foundation for the Super specialty Health department, Wenlock Children’s Health Centre, district public health lab and the Wenlock District Ayush Hospital building.
Addressing the gathering Minister Ramanath Rai said, “The people of Dakshina Kannada are health conscious and regularly visit the hospital to maintain good health. Earlier DMO Dr Rajeshwari was complaining about the facilities in the Wenlock but now she has stopped complaining because we have all the facilities at Wenlock hospital. The state government has the vision of providing total health care to the people of the state. The Wenlock hospital has been upgraded to a regional hospital and people from other districts and states come here for treatment. I urge the people of Dakshina Kannada to make use of the free medical facilities available in Wenlock hospital.”
Minister U T Khader speaking on the occasion said, “The district Wenlock hospital has its own limitations since it is a district hospital in the coming days the Wenlock hospital will be upgraded to a super specialty hospital. Today we have laid the foundation for various development projects. I would like to thank the Health minister and the CM for allocating funds for the development of the Wenlock hospital.”
Recalling an incident U T Khader said, “During the doctors’ protest, a rich man was searching for doctors to treat his daughter but all the private doctors were on a protest. Finally, he brought his daughter to the Wenlock hospital for treatment and his daughter recovered within three days. Now the rich man is always taking his daughter to the same doctor for treatment. When he had met me, he said that the doctors in the Wenlock hospital are very good. Yes, the doctors in Wenlock hospital are very good and they have saved many lives. The people of Dakshina Kannada should make use of their service in the Wenlock hospital.”
U T Khader further said, “In the country, Wenlock is the only hospital where Ayurvedic and allopathy treatment is available. Doctors should treat the patients unconditionally,” he said.
MLA J R Lobo delivered the presidential address. Mayor Bhaskar K, deputy Mayor Mohammed K, KMC Dean M V Prabhu, Corporator Vinayraj and others were also present.
