Minister Ramanath Rai inaugurates Bal Shalya Kriya Mission at KMC

Mangaluru: To mark the completion of 25 successful years of providing clinical services, the silver jubilee of Kasturba Medical College Hospital Attavar, organized an advanced paediatric surgical programme “Bal Shalya Kriya Mission Mangaluru in collaboration with Peedh Parai International, Houston (USA) and Bantwal Ananth Mallya charitable trust, at the Auditorium KMC hospital premises Attavar here on January 24.

The programme began with an invocation. Dean KMC, Mangaluru Dr M Venkatraya Prabhu welcomed the gathering. The weel-long free surgery for children up to 16-years was inaugurated by the district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais. Later Rai also inaugurated the renovated state of the art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit & Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at KMC Hospital Attavar.

Addressing the gathering Ramanath Rai said, “KMC Hospital has taken a good initiative under Bal Shalyakriya Mission since through this programme the unreached and the poor children not only from our district but also from nearby districts and states will be benefited. The children will be getting the benefit of the team of experienced Doctors from Different Parts of the World”.

Ramanath Rai further said, “Children are God’s creation and serving children is a noble mission. Children are universally compared to God because they are innocent and selflessness. KMC Hospital should continue such social initiatives in Future too because many parents cannot afford the medical bills.” Rai also assured all the support towards the good cause by KMC and appreciated their yeomen service towards the society.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Ashwin Pimpalwar; Paediatric & Thoracic Surgeon at Texas Children’s Hospital Houston, USA & Chairman Peedh Parai International said that this is the first initiative in Karnataka and Second in India, and this is a voluntary contribution by team Peedh Parai who consist of like-minded Doctors, Clinicians and executives with an objective to help the poor & needy at all parts of the world.

Jeetendra Nayak, Trustee of Bantwal Ananth Mallya Charitable Trust; Dr V Surendra Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor Manipal University- Mangalore Campus, Dr Rajesh, In charge District Health Officer, Dr Kamalakshi Bhat –Head of Pediatric Department- KMC Mangaluru, Dr Sadashiva Rao; Associate Professor of Paediatric Surgery and Dr Nutan Kamath Unit Chief & Professor of Pediatrics were also present on the occasion.

Dr Anand Venugopal- Medical Superintendent KMC Hospital Mangaluru delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr Thanvi Pai and Dr Pragathi from Paediatric Department of KMC Hospital Mangaluru.
